Early evening and there is a small gathering of locals in here. A fine collection of pewter on show.

11:30 First stop on a pub crawl of Harpenden for our monthly meet up of old workmates. We went in as soon as the bolt was drawn back and the Landlord seemed quite surprised. Stayed for two pints and the pub got quite busy whilst we sat there.

12:00 Had the bar to myself initially but got busy before I left. This is a CAMRA Heritage pub of Regional Importance. Justifiably so.

My first visit here, it was about 6pm and the place was absolutely full of customers, just like pubs used to be on a Friday evening. We thought at first that it was full of office workers socialising after work, but the place continued to get busier.
