The Six Templars (Wetherspoon)

Visits Details
29 Nov 2025 (Hogan Sampling)
7th visit of the outing: Time for a pitstop for a bite or two to eat and this was afforded by this 2008 conversion from a club house to a Wetherspoon and now sporting a two-storey glass frontage while retaining a smaller bar area in the former club's accommodation.
| Orkney (Sinclair) - Clootie Dumpling | 4.30 | | A taster of this Scottish tawny coloured beer passed it as a suitable accompaniment to a Spoon's curry. It is named after a traditional Scottish pudding made with flour, breadcrumbs, dried fruit, suet, sugar and spices mixed with some milk to bind it. It presented very good head and lacing which hung on to the end. A gentle bitter hoppiness rising aided by its Bramling Gold, First Gold and Fuggles hops. A fruity note or two bobbing up with suggestions of ginger and spice in on the act. A gentle spicy bitterness on its toboggan downwards. The Orkney Brewery, set up in March 1988 and one of Scotland's first microbreweries, is housed in the former schoolhouse in Quoyloo, a mile from Skara Brae in the centre of Orkney. |

Evening. I thought Wetherspoon had stopped the nonsense of leaving a clip showing when a beer has run out. Barmaid said they leave it on display until a new beer replaces it!!!

Evening visit and quiet perhaps because it is Monday. JDW pricing used to be simple (pretty much flat rate for guest real ales) but here it is complicated as detailed below. Mr Martin please consider re-simplification.

2050 hours visit. Misleadingly large premises from the look of the exterior brick and stone building. Very well frequented tonight in bar and seated dining areas.

31 Mar 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy early on a Thursday evening and locals are served before non-locals so expect long waits if you are not from the area. More festival beers coming soon than on sale.
| Banks's - Jamaica Stout | 5.00 | | Good roasty and quite bitter stout with a good smooth mouthfeel. My score 16/20. |
