With a group of friends, I have whizzed around a few riverside pubs in quick succession. Didn’t write notes on a couple of them, but we settle here to watch the sun go down and stay well in to the night. Very pleasant and masses of people out.

Spur of the moment decision to pop in for a half as I was walking by and saw ‘Beer Festival’ chalked on the blackboard. Not sure that the offering really deserved that description. Very busy in the early evening.

The pub is found in Southwark, Central London, SE1 9JH.
This pub was established on Bankside by the 1880s, but is now a strikingly modern re-build with a highly desirable riverside position. A large expanse of outside tables make best use of this position and the views across to St Paul’s Cathedral. Inside, the space is divided into a drinking area and one more suitable for dining. The pub is very handy for the Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and the ‘Wobbly’ Bridge.
