The trains were running on time despite some awful weather conditions, so I was able to time things exactly right for a pint and a train, this pub has had a considerable amount of money spent on it recently, but unfortunately we were the only customers.

Well it was New Year's Eve, and I had some time to kill before the train and I really like the fact that the pub takes a couple of copies of The Independent for discerning customers to read. So I sat and read the sports pages, especially the bits about England beating South Africa in the 2nd Test whilst having a beer.

I had a puncture on my bike and I didn't fix it quickly enough, which meant I missed my train by a minute (one of those horrible times where you can see the train pull out as you get onto the platform), so I had an hour to kill. Came here and read the Independent which they always have copies of for customers to read. It's an ok pub and I don't mind having a couple here if trains are late.

I had 20 mins to wait for my train and this pub is only 2 mins away on the bike so its just about the best place I have to get a beer before the train goes. They take The Independent newspaper so I have something to read and the Rugby Union blokes can be entertaining in the saloon bar. Staff behind the bar and friendly and I've never had a bad pint of Sheps here.

I had a good day, so I thought I would treat myself to some drinks. So I did a bit of a tour starting here and then carrying on in Ashford

I've been travelling from Folkestone West for 13 years and not been here even though it is only 2 minutes away. Seemed friendly enough and a nice place for a quiet pint before the train.
