Not a real visit - but saw the pub featured on the main BBC TV news at 6 pm. They are celebrating the New Year today - a tradition kept in the area allegedly since 1752 when 11 days were skipped in September in transition from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar.
The pub is clearly still open and the bar area looks remarkably unchanged.

Lunchtime. Decided to try this after seeing the other entries. The pub was empty when we arrived and to be honest it would have been a bit depressing if another similarly minded couple hadn’t shown up shortly after. We sat on the benches by the road and had a good natter.

Early to mid evening, fairly busy we sat in the left hand bar and joined the merry locals who'd been here far longer. The cosy atmosphere created by the previous soft warm lighting has been replaced by a rather harsh clinical fluorescent tube.
| Marston's - Bass | 4.40 | | Perfect Bass served the old fashioned way. |

An excellent evening with friendly locals.

Evening until close. Three of us kept Bessie and her friendly pub cat occupied for the entire evening.
