Early evening and crowded in here to the point that I almost gave up trying to get served. So much for Monday being a quiet night!

11 Oct 2015 (Stephen Harris)
Sunday evening session. Almost exclusively a foreign tourist clientele at this time I’d say.

Celt Experience (now brands are owned by Evans Evans) - Jurupari | 4.20 | | Pale gold, dry and hoppy. |

31 Mar 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. 2nd bad mark on consecutive visits. Arrived 1945 and still not served by 1955 - those are times not years - time enough to note all beers! Simply inadequately staffed at the bar counter and it was a Monday too! Left with an unquenched thirst.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Rudgate - Ruby Mild | 4.40 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried

13 Jul 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Fantastically crowded in the early evening, yet surprisingly easy to get served. Glorious weather and thousands of people promenading along the Thames bank.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Roc Fall | 4.30 | | An amber-coloured beer. Very good hop flavours from Green Bullet and Citra. |
St Austell - Nicholson's India Pale Ale | 6.00 | | Strong, pale IPA with grapefruity tastes – but this example is in poor condition. I hope for a better pint of this on another day to get its full flavour. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
St Austell - Nicholson's Pale Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried

16 Jan 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Arrived all set for local CAMRA branch AGM but the venue had doubled booked our room so one quicky (before the problem was pointed out) then off to an alternative pub.
St Austell - Nicholson's Pale Ale | 4.00
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | Not Tried
Thwaites - Nutty Black | 3.30 | Not Tried
Adnams - Lighthouse | 3.40 | Not Tried
Cropton (see also Great Yorkshire) - Vicious American Wheat IPA | 6.00 | Not Tried | Pump clip identical to that used by North Peak Brewing in Michigan USA but actually brewed by Cropton - why hide the true provenance? I see no point |
Revolutions - Atomic Blonde | 4.50 | Not Tried
Woodforde's - Norfolk Gold | 4.30 | Not Tried
Brains - Captain Cat | 4.20 | Not Tried
23 Jul 2012 (Stephen Harris)
This pub is always crowded at peak times. Throw in some good weather and it will be doubly so. So inevitably busy last night.
Rooster's - Welsummer (exclusively for Nicholson's) | 4.50 | | A pale beer, well-balanced with fruity hop tastes and a good body. |
Cropton (see also Great Yorkshire) - Hawaii 340 | 4.50 | | An amber-coloured beer with a strong ‘tropical fruits’ flavour. Not sure if all has been extracted from the hops used or whether there is actually any fruit added. Bittersweet. |
Strathaven - Summer Glow | 3.90 | | Golden coloured, with a pronounced citrusy flavour. Too pronounced for it all to come from hops and an internet search reveals that it contains orange zest. Long bitter finish. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Brains - The Rev James Original | 4.50 | Not Tried
St Austell - Nicholson's Pale Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Basing Park | 4.20 | Not Tried
08 Jun 2011 (Dubbel)
Missed a train so ducked in for a swift half. Excellent location riverside with the sun setting over the city. Wait at a fairly deserted bar was longer than it should have been. When I ordered my Titanic I was then advised that an entire bank of about 8 of the handpulls displaying pump clips were off. I found this alarming but ordered a Jaipur regardless, which always seems to be on here.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | | Good, if not at its stunning best. My mouth was still coated with the hop oil from the Californian at the Dean Swift. |
Leeds - Midnight Bell | 4.80 | Not Tried
Titanic - Slipway | 4.40 | Not Tried
07 Jun 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Titanic - Centenary | 4.50 | | Very bitter and dry with a high bittering hop content. Golden in colour with a very dry, astringent finish. My score 14/20. |
11 Jan 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy with most seating areas occupied.
Cropton (see also Great Yorkshire) - Vicious American Wheat IPA | 6.00 | | Golden in colour. Dry citrus hop bitterness dominates with some sourness from the wheat. Not my style of beer. My score 13/20. |
21 Oct 2008 (Ian)
Fairly busy. I've wanted to come here for some time as its been in the past couple of Good Beer Guides. Good range of beers on and a cracking location right on the Thames.
Cairngorm - Autumn Nuts | 3.80 | | Buttery aroma, some diacetyl I think, over a reasonably hoppy bitter. It's in good nick except for the slight butter. OK bitter. |
Stonehenge - Eye-Opener | 4.50 | | Gold, lasting white head. A bit startling with the fruit, like children's lime sweets, bit of rhubarb and custard too. Not unpleasant, good condition, just startling as I say, some hop on finish. A bizarre lime grapefruit rhubarb concoction. Alarming. |
Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Cumberland Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried
St Austell - Tribute | 4.20 | Not Tried
Black Sheep - Best Bitter | 3.80 | Not Tried
