Arrived here just before noon after a cycle from Newark. Recommended by Andrew - but unfortunately due to COVID restrictions it wasn’t opening until 2 (and I had a train to catch). Will have to stay on wish list for now.

The Nottingham brewery tap! Much the same as it's been since I first came here 15 or so years ago. Lovely place.
Nottingham - EPA | 4.20 | | World beatingly good! |
Nottingham - Rock Mild | 3.80
Nottingham - Rock Bitter | 3.80 | | Had this on gravity (because something had happened to the beer engine) and through the beer engine. Interesting what a difference a sparkler makes. |

The starting and as it turned out, finishing point of Cam and my mini tour of Nottingham. The Plough is a superb pub. It's the brewery tap for the Nottingham brewery whose beers are brilliant. When we arrived a handful of people were in. The Mild, Bitter and Sooty Stout were lovely. After we left and went to Canning Circus up the road, we came back because after the Plough, everything's just a little bit naff in comparison.
Nottingham - Rock Mild | 3.80 | | Lovely tan head on black pint. Wonderful rich deep sweet roasted flavour with an efge of tar and molasses. Just top stuff. |
Nottingham - Rock Bitter | 3.80 | | Pale gold in colour. Hint of biscuit. Crisp. Mandarin. Just great. |
Nottingham - Sooty Oatmeal Stout | 4.80 | | Black smoky, roasted with hint of sweetness. |

Great night out with Cam, Jes and Mike. The pub had been done up a bit since I'd been in last and I really like it. They still had the big tables in the main room. Not too busy but it was a Monday night.
Nottingham - Rock Bitter | 3.80 | | Pale gold and creamy in the mouth. Great lemon and grapefruit bitterness. |
Nottingham - Legend | 4.00 | | Amber brown. Light but with an astringent mellon-like bitterness |
Nottingham - Extra Pale Ale | 4.20 | | Light yellow with creamy head. Earthy hops with subtle old style summer lightning bite. |
Nottingham - Rock Mild | 3.80 | | Creamy jet black beer. Smooth and milky with mild citrus hops |

Although I didn't visit the pub I did have the take-out.
Nottingham - Oatmeal Stout | 4.70 | | Black beer with thin head. Rich oyster like body with a sweet sharp bite to the finish. Smoaky overtones and underlying maltness. |

Busy as always - clientele quietly enjoying top of the range beers - a warm welcome and some superb beer!
Nottingham - Oatmeal Stout | 4.70 | | Rich, oyster-y stout with creamy undertones and a marvellously burnt malt finish. As good a stout as I have ever had. |

The main bar now has a plasma screen in the corner showing football. Not sure this is a good thing but they did turn it off after the game ended so at least we weren't subjected to a load of babbling rubish. There were quite a few people in so there was a good atmosphere in the saloon bar where we were sitting. Shame the Oatmeal stout wasn't on. Anyway the mild and bitter were so good I just alternated those.
Nottingham - Rock Mild | 3.80 | | Sweet sugary malt smell. Inital sweet hop taste replaced by a dark treacle/mollases burnt bitterness with a deep burnt treacle finish. |
Nottingham - Rock Bitter | 3.80 | | Summer hay flavours with a good buscuity malt and loverly light syrupy hop finish. |
Nottingham - Extra Pale Ale | 4.20 | Not Tried
Nottingham - Supreme | 5.20 | Not Tried
