| Harvey's - Old Ale (or Sussex XXXX Old Ale) | 4.30 | ![]() | Came with superb head and lacing and lasting all the way on this mahogany-red to near-black-coloured ale. A fruited and malted first bite. Hints of dried fruits, particularly dates, raisins and sultanas rising. A caramelised biscuity flavouring climbing from its malt base of premium Maris Otter barley lending it hints of milk chocolate, toffee and molasses. A dry bitterness paddling out from its likely use of Fuggles and Goldings, "aroma hops" providing a light, balanced bitterness. Lingering burnt sugars, caramel and dark fruits in its aftertaste. Served in very good condition and so a pleasure to sup. |

The pub is found in Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 3ED.
This late-Georgian pub at 32 Brighton Road, Worthing, dating to 1836 and originally opened as a hotel, has been superbly restored in 2015. It has repainted exterior signage and restored/rebuilt stained glass windows which show it was originally owned by Kemp Town Brewery of Brighton. Hand pumps deliver two Harvey’s ales on a visit in March 2026 and with a third on the blackboard almost ready to come on and from Goldmark Brewery, an independent microbrewery located in Arundel, West Sussex, founded in 2013. Local CAMRA highlighted that two local ciders plus craft keg beers were on tap in early 2026. Whilst not running its kitchen on the visit in March 2026 and closed according to its website, The Egremont normally produces home-made food with vegetarian and vegan options, and as accoladed by The Place To Eat And Drink at Worthing Business Awards, and Best Eatery at The More Radio Awards. Live music features every Friday and Saturday and the venue is dog-friendly according to its website in early 2026.
We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
