Afternoon - a few eaters in. Warm and cosy inside. I have mixed feelings about this pub - great to see it flourishing but the prices are eye-watering £4.30 a pint in the sticks.

Shepherd Neame - Samuel Adams Blonde Ambition4.50ExcellentVery tasty. A premium price from Sheps as it is labelled a “craft beer”.

Quite a few in late Friday afternoon / early evening. The beer quality here is excellent and having a guest on in a SN pub makes a difference.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Lacons - Legacy4.40GoodVery citrusy blond beer.
Shepherd Neame - The Faversham Steam Brewery - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale3.90GoodReally nice, fresh, clean beer. Nothing too remarkable about it, but really nice nevertheless.

Walked down from the Fitzwalter's just as the sun was setting. Stood by the fire with the handfull of other customers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Late Red4.50GoodProbably my favourite Sheps beer. It has a depth of flavour with a sweet / spice mix.
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70AcceptableSeemed a little thin. Clean enough but without any real character. This is a truly average pint.
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale)4.20Not Tried

It was late afternoon and the pub had a handful of people in. This is a lovely building with it's nooks and crannies and the garden is very pleasant too
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Goldings (superseded by 4.1% version)4.70PoorUmm... I should have known better. This was like warm soapy water into which someone had dunked a couple of hops

Set in the heart of a small village full of cottages and period houses. Large half timbered building with 2 largish gardens and a barbecue hut outside for the weekends. Lovely pub in a lovely village. Owned by Shepherd Neame
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70AcceptableMid brown, Shep's yeasty nose, slight hops, some fruity malt, sweetish finish with some spicy hops
Shepherd Neame - Best Bitter4.10PoorMid brown, bit malty, bit thin, slightly apple aftertaste
Shepherd Neame - Early Bird4.30PoorPale brown. Slightly citric nose, bit thin, citric hoppy finish. Coming to the end of the season for this ale
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale)4.20Not Tried

Sat out in the garden on a hot Sunday afternoon. The inside of the pub was more or less empty but the garden and yard area were busy. There was also a burger hut open
BeerABVScoreNotes
Shepherd Neame - Best Bitter4.10AcceptableWell it tasted bitter, I'll give it that. ...but it also tasted like pubs smell the morning after
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70AcceptableHoppy? Slighly. Malty? Slightly. Have it again? No.
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale)4.20AcceptableI've never been a big fan of this beer but even so it wasn't up to its usual standard
Shepherd Neame - Early Bird4.30AcceptableAstringently hoppy but slighly tired. Good pale amber colour but I've had better pints of Early Bird this year
