Penultimate day of opening and a fairly sombre atmosphere with a good number of people coming in to say goodbye to Karen and the pub. Karen informed us that she currently has no job or home to go to but is looking for another pub in the local area.

Early afternoon and fairly quiet. A planning application has been submitted to demolish this pub and build flats. It will be a shame if we lose this one.

12:45 visit. The annual b/f brought me here today. A stillage outside in a makeshift mini-marquee had 15 ales on with a few more casks behind the main bar in the pub. The weather was foul today so we went inside, firstly sitting amongst the gathering of folk music players and then going next door to the main bar for more good beer. Nice old estate pub.

The pub is found in Rochester, Kent, ME1 1YL.

Large two-roomed pub on an estate 5 to 10 minutes walk from the railway station. There are 3 handpumps on the public bar counter but these are not used because real ales and ciders are sold on gravity dispense from a two level stillage behind the bar in the main room. The casks are jacket cooled. The stillage can hold up to 8 casks but usually only 2 or 3 real ales plus a cider are on sale. Occasional beer festivals. Regular live folk music evenings in the saloon bar. Reported, summer 2019, to be under some threat of demolition for housing. on 26th July 2019 the licensees posted in Facebook "It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that The Good Intent, Rochester, will open its doors for the very last time on Friday, 31st January 2020." Closed and set for demolition and replacement with housing.

We have visited this pub 20 times, seen 80 different beers and tried 39 of them.
