I love this pub, it is intact with public and saloon bars, and a separate snug type room at the back, just what pubs used to be like. The beer range today was not as interesting as I have seen on previous visits.
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Cocker Hoop (aka September Ale) | 4.60 | | A good copper coloured beer. |
Wadworth - Henry's Original IPA | 3.60 | Not Tried

18 Jul 2010 (Dosser)
We stumbled across a beer festival which was going on in 4 pubs in the Medway towns and linked by a mini bus. 10 beers available here. The others in the group found them all too warm. Interesting to note that all the others who have written about this pub have said they would return. But they havent.
Ossett - Excelsius (was Excelsior) | 5.20 | | Very enjoyable. |

My taste for trying new pubs again has come back and this is one of the reasons why. Good basic interior with pool table and dart board and an 8 barrel stillage behind the bar. Friendly landlady, I liked the Fleetwood Mac on the jukebox. Will be back next time in Rochester.
Dorking - Red India Ale | 5.00 | | In America I really like their red/amber ales which have sweat red malts mixed with good PNW hops. This is a decent interpretation without the massive punch of the hops, but is still hoppy enough. Decent beer, good malts, satisfyingly enough hop on finish. |

What a really friendly pub. We were offered tasters even though we didn't ask. Both the landlady and her locals chatted to us. The Juke Box was good and the beers all on gravity. It was very reminiscent of the Duke of Connaught pub in Norwich. I hope to come back.
Moorhouse's - Premier Bitter (was 3.8%) | 3.70 | | In good condition. Light brown slightly metallic beer with roasted malts. |
Hidden - Old Sarum | 4.10 | Not Tried
Dorking - Red India Ale | 5.00 | Not Tried

Very friendly community boozer, and they had lots of carlic bread going around which was perfectly timed! A little rough around the edges but a great pub.
Acorn - Old Moor Porter | 4.40 | | Very chocolatey with a fair amount of smoke, Very good porter. |
Saltaire - Cascade Pale Ale | 4.80 | Not Tried

We've been meaning to come here since finding out it's beaten Man of Kent as best pub in the area for the last 4 years running! It's not the most inviting of pubs, but the landlord is one of the friendliest people I've ever met. I'll be back next time I'm in the area.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Seaforth | 5.90 | | Powerful malty and hoppy beer. I wasn't sure it hid it's strength all that well but a very tasty beer nonetheless. |
Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 4.70 | Not Tried
Moorhouse's - Broomstick Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried
