31 Jul 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Tettnang | 4.00 | | Good, hoppy pale bitter with citrus hoppiness evident. My score 15/20. |
27 Jul 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Hydes - Loose Cannon | 4.00 | | Pale bitter with a dryish, bitter character. Finish is dry with a hint of citrus. My score 14/20. |
30 Mar 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Coors - Mitchell's & Butler Mild | 3.40 | | Brewed at Highgate these days. This sample was red coloured and quite sweet and fruity with a malty background and low hopping. My score 16/20. |
16 Feb 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Adnams - American Style IPA | 4.80 | | Good effort with good citrus hop character and some malt character too. Purists may say it's not hoppy enough, but it works for me. My score 16/20. |
29 Dec 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Warwickshire - Berry Nice Beer Yule Enjoy | 4.20 | | Doesn't live up to the name, no fruit flavour at all, just a dry, flat malt taste with a bitter aftertaste. My score 12/20. |
24 Dec 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Adnams - Wheat Beer | 4.10 | | Cloudy wheat beer in German style with a slightly sour taste enhanced by spicy hop flavours. Not my type of beer at all, but probably a good representation of the style. My score 9/20 |
28 Nov 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Wyre Piddle - Piddle Remembers | 4.10 | | Malty ruby red style ale with a sweetish character and little hop taste. My score 15/20. |
15 Nov 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Adnams - Abbey Ale | 5.00 | | Second in the continental series, this is Adnam's take on a Belgian Tripel style beer. A little too sour and yeasty for my taste. My score 12/20. |
17 Oct 2009 (Ian)
I have no idea why I have never been in this pub, I mean I have walked past it enough times. On the corner on the way into Borough Market. Quite attractive inside, but does get busy and the service is not what I would call "fast."
Adnams - Kolsch | 4.20 | | OK, forget that this is supposed to be a Kolsch. Having been to Koln, this isn’t even close. But as a golden ale, it is pretty decent. Gold, thin white head. Drinkable enough for a light tasting beer with some ok yeast character, some odd peach fruit on the flavour. Good as a beer, but not as a Kolsch. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
08 Sep 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Cropton (see also Great Yorkshire) - Ryedale Best | 4.20 | | Pale ale with a fairly dry, bitter character. My score 14/20. |
