Quiet couple in the beer garden on a sunny thursday afternoon.
Mordue - Workie Ticket | 4.50 | | Ruby coloured. Malty chocolate notes. Lasting off white head. Slightly over bitter/sour aftertaste. Decent. |
Captain Cook - Red Bay | 4.00 | | Dark ruby in colour. Malty with very long hoppy aftertaste. A light quaffable ale for its dark colour. Nice. |
Captain Cook - Discovery | 4.40 | Not Tried
Wainstones - Amber | 3.80 | Not Tried

Very quiet. Three ales on which all ran out at the same time and were not replaced.
Consett Ale Works - White Hot | 4.00 | | Light straw colour, hoppy but tired. |
Wood's - Craven Ale | 3.80 | Not Tried
Rooster's - Orange Blossom | 3.90 | Not Tried

Absolutely jam packed - standing 8 deep at the bar. Left before we could even see what beers were on.

Disappointing. Of two ciders and one perry on hand pump none were available but clips were not turned round. Only one real ale - the others had run out earlier but were not replaced. Poor showing from what is usually a reliable pub.
Captain Cook - Slipway | 4.20 | | Poured an attractive mid-orange. Little aroma and slightly cloying flavour. Maybe 2.1/2*, really. |

The pub had entered into the Halloween spirit. Lots of fancy dress and good humour. Draught perry from Weston's available.
Ossett - Silver King | 4.30 | | Really enjoyed this very light straw coloured ale. Light floral aroma and crisp, dry hoppy flavour with just enough body for mouthfeel. Served in perfect condition. |
Captain Cook - Zombie Ale | 4.50 | | Dark brown ale with toffee apple flavours. Sweetness balanced by full body and lingering, lightly hopped finish. |
Wentworth - WPA | 4.00 | Not Tried
