It's Thursday evening and this is the City of London. Almost by definition the pub is rammed. Hard to get through the door and hard to approach the bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cropton (see also Great Yorkshire) - Darkangel5.00ExcellentA very deep brown coloured, cherry porter. The overwhelming flavour is smooth chocolate. There are no burnt or toasty flavours that I can detect. A slight fizz on the tongue, and the cherry taste comes through towards the end but is not sweet. My assumption is that this US beer is brewed at Cropton.
Peerless - Triple Blond4.20PoorA pale beer which looks to be in good condition. But the taste is cardboardy, stale and musty. It's not meant to be like that is it?

Fairly busy with passing trade from the nearby Liverpool Street railway terminus. Beer quality was above average here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cropton (see also Great Yorkshire) - Ryedale Winter's T'Ale4.20ExcellentDark ruby winter type beer with medium hop bitterness, good malt character and berry fruit flavours. My score 16/20.
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Azzaparrot4.20GoodDark amber in colour with a good balance of hop and malt. Becomes drier and more spicy towards the finish. My score 15/20.
