Tradition dictates that the Royal Lion is where it all begins. So here I am. Nice to see a Town Mill beer on. The bar area is relaxed and anonymous. The piped music is pan pipes interchanged with acoustic versions of Beatles hits. You get the picture but I still like it. Ooh some Sinatras come on!
Butcombe - Rare Breed (or Adam Henson's Rare Breed) | 3.80 | | Pale brown. Fruity and astringent. |
Lyme Regis - Pilsdon Pen | 4.80 | | Pale gold colour and a touch too warm. Tart alcoholic warming in the mouth. Some grain flavours going on. Not a great beer. |
Otter - Bitter | 3.60 | Not Tried
Otter - Ale | 4.50 | Not Tried

David Gray was telling us we were dead in the water now. It wasn't that bad in the Royal Lion; he needs to give it a second go.

Very quiet, but then it's always fairly quiet when I come here. The place certainly has a timeless feel to it.

After eating out at, what turned out to be, an expensive fish-cafe, we came here for a pint. We met up with Ali and Jo and talked about the state of things.
Art Brew - Royal Lion Bitter | 4.50 | | Brown bitter with heavy burnt sugar flavour. Tangy lemon flavour. Mine was a bit vinegary but that was because it was the last one in the barrel. I'd have taken it back but I didn't want another or either of the other 2 on. |
Butcombe - Brunel Atlantic IPA | 5.00 | Not Tried
Lyme Regis - Cobb | 3.90 | Not Tried

My first pub visit in Lyme this holiday. Fairly empty really. I watched the staff coming and going whilst trying to ignore the nettly hops on my pint.
Lyme Regis - Cobb | 3.90 | | Soft mouth feel. Cox apple flavour. Smoky sandalwood flavours. Very nettley hop finish. |
Butcombe - Brunel Atlantic IPA | 5.00 | Not Tried
