We had originally decided to go to the Sheffield Tap but it was packed with football supporters, so we jumped on a train to Leicester instead. My first visit here, and I liked it. Mince pies were available on the bar.

A 2 room affair that looked like a cross between a 18th century boozer and a railway waiting room from the 50's. I sat in the corner and wrote postcards.

The pub is found in Leicester, Leicestershire, LE1 1RE.

Unspoilt 1930s style interior, a quiet and relaxing retreat in Rutland Street. Serves Hoskins Brothers brewed beers and guests and cider. 2 distinct bar areas. The larger bar counter has 9 handpumps and the smaller counter has 3. In addition real ales are sometimes dispensed on the main bar counter from what look like keg taps on 2 T-bar fitments but which the pub owners insist are real ales in every way. Watch out for pump clips fitted to these taps.

We have visited this pub 18 times, seen 45 different beers and tried 13 of them.
