28 Jun 2013 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Seems to be a busy night everywhere tonight. Sat at the bar and chatted to a couple of locals.
Humpty Dumpty - Golden Gorse | 5.40 | | Strong and distinctive, the power coming through at the finish. Once again - good condition and presentation. |
Beeston - Worth the Wait | 4.20 | | It certainly was worth the wait. Good Norfolk bitter, good Norfolk tastes. Good condition and presentation. |
27 Jun 2013 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Busy with those enjoying their food.
Humpty Dumpty - Swallowtail | 4.00 | | Superb condition and presentation. Good malt, hops and a little apple? Quality Norfolf bitter. |
24 Jun 2013 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
A bit chilly but managed a couple of pints sitting outside.
Woodforde's - Wherry | 3.80 | | Wherry as it should be. A superb session ale and some Norfolk malt. |
Beeston - The Dry Road | 4.80 | | A complex beer with good flavours and good balance. |
22 Jun 2013 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Great selection of Norfolk ales and apparently serving good food. Busy inside, so sat outside in the 'beer garden' where it was cold but quiet.
Elmtree - Burston's Cuckoo | 3.80 | | Standard pale ale, hint of Norfolk malt. Good condition and presentation. |
Bee's - Amber | 3.80 | | Decent amber ale with a peppery aftertaste. |
02 Aug 2012 (HSB)
Swift pint after a ride on the North Norfolk railway.
Elmtree - Burston's Cuckoo | 3.80
14 Jul 2012 (HSB)
Respite stop after the North Norfolk Railway beer festival got too busy for comfort. Busy with fellow refugees.
Humpty Dumpty - Little Sharpie | 3.80
Humpty Dumpty - Norfolk Nectar | 4.60
14 Jun 2012 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Not too busy, locals in bar, holidaymakers in lounge.
Elmtree - Mad Maudie | 4.50 | | Bursting with hops and nuttiness, absolutely crammed with wonderful flavours. |
Ole Slewfoot - Orange Blossom Special | 4.40 | | Not sure what aroma or taste to expect. Nice aroma and an initial taste of honey followed by an odd tanginess. Delightfully different. |
12 Jun 2012 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
A bit breezy but sat outside, quite warm when the wind stopped blowing.
Woodforde's - Wherry | 3.80 | | Never fails. Nothing different to say about this fabulously tasty session ale. Wonderful tastes of Norfolk. |
Elmtree - Thirst For Victory | 4.00 | | Good malt and hops, light and refreshing. |
Ole Slewfoot - EBA | 5.30 | | Golden IPA, sweet maltiness with a hint of citrus. Good balance. |
08 Jun 2011 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Sat outside in the sheltered courtyard and away from the biting coast wind.
Wolf - Golden Jackal | 3.70 | | A very special session beer, refreshing and hoppy whilst maintaining a good body. Each mouthful is as tasty and fresh as the ones before. A slight touch of citrus adds to a nice finish. Superbly well kept. |
06 Jun 2011 (Bear & Ragged Staff)
Busy pub but the locals and staff are always friendly.
BlackFriars - Raspberry Ripple | 4.00 | | A novelty beer? Aroma of raspberry and immediate taste of raspberry, raspberry bitterness in the aftertaste. Not sure what to make of this but I don't think you would spend a night drinking four or five pints of it. |
