Extremely quiet. Local holiday fortnight. First night without football for a few days. Only three real ales on - a Young's one and a Leicestershire one (think it might have been Everards Beacon but didn't have pen and paper)

First time in here on aFriday for a few weeks. Usual scene except there are lots of flags up for the world cup and there is a really good new house ale.
Eglesbrech - No.3 | 4.00 | | Rich chocolatey number a bit like Dark Island or Old Engine Oil and a very nice drink it is as well. Best thing by far I've ever had from this local micro. If there is more to come like this then the future is very bright for the EBC. |
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Young's Waggledance | 5.00 | | Ok |
Theakston - Old Peculier | 5.60 | Not Tried

Noticeably different crowd in tonight. Two other beers on, one of which I tried but didn't recognise and can't recall name. Friends would not permit me to buy drinks so never got near the bar to have a good look.

Eglesbrech - Falkirk 400 | 3.80 | Not Tried

Quite busy for a Tuesday. Was going to take a picture of the sign but there were too many smokers hanging around the back door. A couple more drinks with my walking partners. There were two more beers on - one I didn't recognise but which was quite tasty (didn't have my book to write it down) and another one I just can't remember.
Eglesbrech - Falkirk 400 | 3.80 | | 400 back on for the first time in ages. This is ok. Quite malty with a slight dryness. |
Inveralmond - Thrappledouser | 4.30 | Not Tried
Inveralmond - Independence | 3.80 | Not Tried
21 Apr 2006 (Charles)
Aaargh, forgot my camera again. There was fourth beer on which was from Abbey Ales but it went off before I got chance to closely inspect the label and see which one.
Orkney (Sinclair) - Dark Island | 4.60 | | Beer turnover seems to be good here these days and the result is excellent quality beers all the time. A chocolatey favourite - can never resist it. |
Orkney (Sinclair) - 3 Sisters Scottish Ale (Atlas range) | 4.20 | Not Tried
Stewart - Edinburgh No. 3 | 4.30 | Not Tried | A friend was drinking this and said it was good - tried a sip - malty but not too sweet. |
14 Apr 2006 (Charles)
Great music again as Ewan MacFarlane was playing. There was a fourth beer on but I can't remember what it was - an English brewery I didn't recognise.
Tryst - Festival Red | 4.00 | | Very tasty. Malty but still quite dry hoppy taste. |
Harviestoun - Bitter & Twisted | 3.80 | Not Tried
Orkney (Sinclair) - Latitude Pilsner (Atlas range) | 3.60 | Not Tried

Happy yet very sad evening cause two very dear friends are leaving for New Zealand. Funnily enough I met them here about two years ago. Can feel some very expensive holidays coming on. BTW delivered on their promise to have Carronade on specially for the occasion. Who could ask more of their local. In addition to those listed there was another beer on (Broughton I think) which I did not recognise and consequently can't remember.
Tryst - Carronade IPA | 4.20 | | Explosive hops. Like to think this may be the batch Martin helped John to make. Soooooo grapfruity. Fantastic. Once again I could still feel it the next day - felt all citrus fresh and grapefruity when I woke up. Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow - unbelievable - you're on the stage, tonight |
Cairngorm - Sheepshagger's Gold | 4.50 | | tried this because the IPA went off briefly. Very malty compared to the Tryst Carronade so not my ideal but still very good. |
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Brewer's Drop | 4.60 | Not Tried
Eglesbrech - Grannies Oatmeal Stout | 4.50 | Not Tried
31 Mar 2006 (Charles)
First smoke free Friday. Very busy with lots of teachers celebrating the end of term. Promise of Carronade next Friday. Can't wait. There was a Houston beer on I didn't try and I can't remember the name.
Harviestoun - Belgian White | 4.30 | | This had been on a few days but still tasted good. Ran out though. |
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Umbel Ale (aka Special Coriander Ale) | 3.80 | | Had several of these. Quite hoppy - pleasantly bitter. Getting something grassy. |
Harviestoun - Bitter & Twisted | 3.80 | Not Tried | Ran out |
Eglesbrech - Grannies Oatmeal Stout | 4.50 | Not Tried
Harviestoun - Ptarmigan | 4.50 | Not Tried
Inveralmond - Lia Fail | 4.70 | Not Tried | This has been on for a while |
