Not showing the football in here and therefore near empty. A constant stream of people walking in, looking in horror at the blank screen and walking back out again. I was doing a ‘Likely Lads’ and held out until Match of the Day to see the action.

Very quiet early on a Sunday afternoon.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Vale - Artful Bodger4.10GoodDark brown porter style beer with some roast malt flavour. Not very hoppy with a dryish finish. My score 15/20.
20 Mar 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Fairly busy in the early evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Aylesbury (ABC) - Black Path5.00ExcellentA dry, black stout with a tan head. Heavy on the roasted barley.
Clearwater - Winter's Ale5.20AcceptableA dark beer and a bit of a mystery. It had a distinct brett, almost lambic sourness which I found refreshing but which was making others pull faces. But I doubt it was meant to be like that?

The pub is found in Southwark, Central London, SE1 1NP.

For most of its history this was a Courage house called the Grapes, until acquired by the St Christopher’s chain of backpackers hostels. It may only be coincidental, but the pub stands more-or-less on the site of the historic Christopher Inn. It is deceptively large, with the small front bar leading into a much larger rear bar. There is also a downstairs lounge and outside seating in the passageway beside the pub. Expect to find beers from National brewers here through 5 handpumps. One of the latest pub closing-times in this area.

We have visited this pub 15 times, seen 32 different beers and tried 16 of them.
