It was getting hot at the beach hut and it was at least 4:30pm so why wasn't I in a pub? I made my question redundant by moving to a pub. The Royal Standard has always been an odd pub in my mind. It's a low ceilinged sprawing affair with the feeling of an old fashion evening club. Always relaxed and friendly with a little patio overlooking the beach.

Excellent condition. Quite zingy. Palmers Best can be considered either traditional stuff with none of these new fangled hops or a has-been throw back to flavour challenged times. Give me a solid brown bitter any day.

Nice wooden friendly pub. The kind of place I used to frequent in Plymouth.

Ate here. About 8pm. Handful of folk in eating. Friendly staff. Odd stained glass depicting Judge Jeffries hanging 12 fellows. Not really want you want to look at whilst eating.

Late evening. Been raining all day so it was quiet out. The pub had a subtarranean feel to it. Friendly staff.
