18:45 visit. My friend brought me here, my first visit, and what an impresive place. Lively with a good atmosphere and a large, decent selection of ales plus foreign beers. I liked the large all-around bar, which you have to navigate to find all the ales. And I liked the two boards listing all of the ales on and new ones coming up, plus, a comprehensive list of foreign beers, which they are renowned for here, with several foreign type beer festivals during the year. My friend had to depart for Manch. I stayed for several hours more and imbibed some good ales. I liked the place a lot. A current 2013 gbg entry and 20 times previous in 1993-2012.

Awesome pub. When we arrived a group of well dressed young people were leaving and the inside was packed; it was pub quiz night. We had to stand to start with but as the quiz tailed off we managed to get a couple of stools.
