Jane, Isabel and I went for a drive out to the west of Kent. We passed the Hop Farm on route which was having a dog show that caused a massive traffic jam. Eventually we made it to the Dovecote and what a lovely pub it is. Dark, cosy, old and charismatic. There's a large garden at the back of the property with a covered outside drinking area immediately to the rear of the pub. The inside of the pub has 2 main areas with a small snug to the front. The beer was served on gravity out of barrels behind the bar. The landlord was extremely friendly and helpful too.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00ExcellentExcellent condition full of Harvey's tell-tale flavours
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30GoodGood condition. Good hop resins in an easy to drink light ale form. Very enjoyable
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - Gale's HSB4.80GoodPerhaps lacked a bit of condition and I suspect it was the end of the barrel but it still had some nice fruity and resinous notes to it.
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70Not Tried
