Early evening. The weather is glorious and there are a lot of people around.
Brew By Numbers - 05/22 India Pale Ale: NZ Mosaic & Columbus | 7.30 | | From key-keg. Murky pale gold. Superb hops. |
Brew By Numbers - 18/06 Farmhouse – Pear Saison | 6.00 | | From key-keg. A thick, yellow coloured beer. This is a bit bonkers really. Tart pear flavour. In a blind tasting, I might have had it down as a rather rough Perry. |
05 May 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening, with plenty of people visiting this brewery today. I enjoyed a pork steak with chips and gravy, as well as the beer.
Brew By Numbers - 05/11 – India Pale Ale: Citra & Mosaic | 6.20 | | Citra and Mosaic – you can’t go wrong there. |
Brew By Numbers - 11/25 Session IPA: Citra & HBC 431 | 4.20 | | Golden and murky. More lovely Citra. |
Brew By Numbers - 20/05 Belgian Pale: Motueka & Saaz | 4.50 | | A cloudy pale gold colour. Euro hop flavours and a definite Belgian twang. |
21 Apr 2017 (Stephen Harris)
We regroup in here after our brave exploration of new breweries in London’s nether regions.
Brew By Numbers - 01/08 Saison – Wai-Iti & Lemon | 6.20 | | From key-keg. Very lemony. |
Brew By Numbers - 21/09 Pale Ale: NZ Cascade & Pacifica Jade | 5.50 | | From key-keg. A cloudy yellow/gold colour. Very fruity and very good. |
Brew By Numbers - 05/22 India Pale Ale: NZ Mosaic & Columbus | 7.30 | | From key-keg. Piney and fruity and murky and a bit herbal. |
10 Mar 2017 (Stephen Harris)
A busy Friday evening session in here.
Brew By Numbers - 11/03 Session IPA: Mosaic | 4.50 | | Golden and clear. The great taste of Mosaic hops. |
Brew By Numbers - 07/07 – Witbier: Orange | 5.00 | | Lemon in colour but orange in flavour. |
Brew By Numbers - 17/09 – Table Saison: Lemon & Hibiscus | 3.50 | | Golden, with a reddish tinge. Good flavours and a dry finish. |
17 Feb 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Friday evening and crowded in here.
Brew By Numbers - 21/08 – Pale Ale: Ekuanot & Wai’iti | 5.20 | | A murky, golden beer with bitter fruit flavours. |
Brew By Numbers - 03/03 – Porter: Traditional | 6.60 | | Black, with a creamy brown head. Smooth and dry, with coffee flavours. |
Brew By Numbers - 05/20 – India Pale Ale: Azacca & Amarillo | 6.50 | | Golden and cloudy. Lovely hops. |

Part of the reason I’m slipping into a habit of coming here on Friday evenings is that I enjoy the music compilation that plays here every week as much as I do the beer. It’s designed, I’m sure, to lure in oldies like me – Led Zep, Floyd, Cream, Stone Roses, Doors etc..
Brew By Numbers - 08/06 - Stout: Oatmeal | 5.70 | | Very close to black in colour, with some brown edges. A heavy-duty Stout; very smooth with just a little sweetness. Superb I thought. Not even a hint of carbonisation from key-keg conditioning. |
Brew By Numbers - 01/27 - Saison: Beetroot & Fennel | 6.10 | | Bright red in colour (as in beetroot red). And it’s fabulous – they are master brewers here. |
Brew By Numbers - 17/07 - Table Saison: Huell & Melon | 3.50 | | Pale gold and only slightly hazy. Very fruity and very nice |
Brew By Numbers - 45/01 – Belgian IPA: Tettnang Saaz EKG | 6.00 | | A cloudy golden colour although not quite a ‘London Murky’. A definite Belgian twang, I assume from the yeast. |
13 Jan 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Twenty minutes after opening time but already standing room only.
Brew By Numbers - 17/06 - Table Saison: Sorachi Ace & Lemon | 3.00 | | Not one for those who dislike lemony beers. I’m not one of them though. |
Brew By Numbers - 11/22 – Session IPA: Waimea & Wai-iti | 4.20 | | A fellow customer described this turbid, hoppy, yellow beer as “Proper London murky”, a description which I like. |
Brew By Numbers - 08/02 – Stout: Imperial | 9.50 | | In colour and viscosity, very like the puddle outside the garage a few railway arches down from here. Considerably tastier though (I assume). |
06 Jan 2017 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening, for the first opening of the Taproom here of 2017.
Brew By Numbers - 01/26 – Saison: Smoked Wheat & Fuggles | 5.50 | | An unlikely-sounding combination of flavours, but it does really seem to work. |
Brew By Numbers - 05/11 – India Pale Ale: Citra & Mosaic | 6.20 | | Quite possible my two favourite hop varietals, used here in combination. Of course it’s excellent. |
16 Dec 2016 (Stephen Harris)
I find it hard to visit this part of London without popping in here. Despite arriving just a few minutes after opening I found the place to be standing room only, soon becoming crowded – luckily it was mild enough to stand outside.
Brew By Numbers - 21/06 Pale Ale: Mosaic & Enigma | 5.20 | | A turbid yellow colour. Fantastically fresh and juicy. |
Brew By Numbers - 18/04 Farmhouse – Gose | 4.30 | | Ouch! This one is sour. |
Brew By Numbers - 01/13 Saison: Mosaic | 5.70 | | Decent Saison with hoppy edge. |
09 Dec 2016 (Stephen Harris)
One of my favourite London brewers, I always enjoy a visit here.
Brew By Numbers - 08/03 Stout: Chocolate & Orange | 6.20 | | On key-keg dispense. I remembered enjoying this one at one of the London Brewers Market events, and my memory had not failed me – excellent. |
Brew By Numbers - 11/21 Session IPA: Mosaic & Wai’iti | 4.20 | | On key-keg dispense. A cloudy gold colour, very hoppy and very tasty. |
Brew By Numbers - 05/14 India Pale Ale: Citra & Summit | 6.20 | | Fresh and juicy. |
