We came here the previous night, walked in, joined a few folk who were drinking at the bar and, as we were about to order our drinks, were told they were shut. Umm. Came back the next day to see what it was like when it was open. It had the feel of a pub that was closed. Sure there were 20 or so folk in but even so it was a bit gloomy and actually felt like it was shut.
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Constantine | 4.30 | | Soft mouth feel, hint of dark red fruit. Quite a leafy hop finish. |

Up in Leeds for the Interpol gig, oh and to meet my daughter who's at uni here. Before heading to O'Neils and Wetherspoons to meet the students I thought I'd try some real pubs.
Liverpool Organic - Kitty Wilkinson | 4.50 | | Chocolate and vanilla stout, a bit like a choc ice, really nice. |

Fairly quiet on a Sunday afternoon, staff almost outnumbered customers!
Tetley - Dark Mild | 3.20 | | Now brewed at Marston's. A sweet and malty dark red/brown mild wirth caramel and biscuit notes and little hoppiness to speak of. My score 16/20. |
Elland - First Light | 3.70 | | Now increased in strength to 3.7%, this is still a classic Pennine Light Mild with soft hoppiness, biscuity malt character and a dryish finish. My score 15/20. |

Always a pleasure to drink here - Dean and the staff create a pleasant atmosphere to drink in. The staff are always happy to recommend a beer, and the food is good value for money as well. Major sporting events shown, but in a friendly atmosphere. Beers change weekly.
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Centurion's Ghost Ale | 5.40 | | York's best beer by a mile. Wonderfully balanced for it's strength - roasted coffee and chocolate flavours, with a smooth finish. Strong - but doesn't taste it! |
Taddington - Moravka | 5.00 | | Unpastuerised lager, brewed in small batches in the UK. Very drinkable & moreish - softly crisp yet with a creamy, malty body. |
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Tiger | 4.20 | | Massive toffee & caramel flavours in this easy-drinking session ale. Can be a little sweet, but has a gently spicy hop finish. |
