Rudgate - Ale and Hearty | 4.00 | | Amber bitter with a fairly dry bitter character without being over hopped. Dry, bitter finish. My score 14/20. |
20 May 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Getting busy before the Friday evening rush.
Leeds - Leodis Lager | 4.60 | | Served too cold here so not really able to discern any particular outstanding flavours. Quite bitter with some sharpness. My score 14/20. |

Got off the train at 8:45pm and figured it was about 10 minutes walk to the Brewery Tap. 10 seconds later we were at the Brewery Tap. The inaccuracy of the scale on my map was to amaze me over the 2 days I was up in Leeds. The brewery tap was very quiet. It had a definite "bar" feel to it but it was fine and it had a good beer line up.
Leeds - Leeds Best | 4.30 | | Too cold. Pale brown, nettley hop, toasted. |
Acorn - Barnsley Gold | 4.30 | Not Tried
Leeds - Midnight Bell | 4.80 | Not Tried
Rudgate - Thord Yeller | 4.10 | Not Tried
Rudgate - Explorer Find | 3.60 | Not Tried
Brown Cow - Mrs. Simpsons Thriller In Vanilla | 5.10 | Not Tried
17 Mar 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Fairly quiet around teatime on a Thursday afternoon.
Tetley - Dark Mild | 3.20 | | Served too cold, so difficult to determine much flavour in this. Thin and watery. No longer brewed in Leeds, believed to come from Marston's now. My score 14/20 with B for quality. |
16 Jul 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Getting very busy around 5.30pm on a Friday evening.
Liverpool Organic - William Roscoe | 4.30 | | Golden but difficult to determine any flavours in this as it was served so cold - chill haze present and barely discernable hop and malt flavours. I think it should taste reasonable at the correct temp. My score 14/20 with C for quality - I'd estimate the serving temp at 7-8 C. |
27 Mar 2010 (ChrisE)
A busy Saturday afternoon, generally 20-40 year old clientelle trying interesting beers, and enjoying some food to accompany them. I did not make a note of all the beers that were available.
Leeds - Leeds Best | 4.30 | | |
19 Mar 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy on a late Friday afternoon with a steady stream of office workers arriving.
Tetley - Mild | 3.30 | | This was the original Leeds brewed version, amber/red in colour with a lightly hopped slightly soapy taste. Some malt in the finish. My score 15/20. |

Neat, tidy and with pleasant staff, this is a great little bar to wait for a train, or delay the journey home. All of Leeds's Beers are regulary available, as well as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Peroni and Tuborg. Food served from limited menu. Lager Microbrewery on site - Leodis Lager is brewed here.
Leeds - Leeds Best | 4.30 | | Malty & sweet, but a littl heavier than the Pale, the best is a decent example of the style. Again, another session choice. |
Leeds - Leeds Pale | 3.80 | | Grapefruity, hoppy and very refreshing, Leeds's flagship pale is very drinkable indeed. |
Leeds - Leodis Lager | 5.00 | | Probably the best reason to visit the Brewery Tap, the Leodis Lager is brewed on-site. Refreshing and zingy but with a big, creamy body, it isn't a pale lager, but refreshing enough. More flavour than lagers usually have. A good attempt at a misunderstood style. |
