Pretty empty on a Wednesday early evening, but then again this is a big pub. Spent an enjoyable 5 minutes chatting with Kevin behind the bar about beer and how they clean the lines and look after the beer. Went upstairs and sat in one of the cavernous rooms.

Theakston - Grouse Beater4.20AcceptableGold/copper colour with thin bubbly off white head. Very perfumed aroma, rose petals and peach/apricot/nectarine fruit. Fine in mouth with some bitterness. Finish has more fresh stone fruit and hop bitterness. Simply bizarre. Good bitter with peach/apricot and nectarine flavours all over it.

Huge Wetherspoon's on Maidstone High Street. Upstairs area in particular is impressive. Fairly busy as always with a good range of guest beers and some different world beers in bottle including Okocim from Poland, Fruili from Belgium and Lion Red from New Zealand
BeerABVScoreNotes
Arkell's - Kingsdown Special Ale5.00PoorReddish brown beer with no head. Sweet cloying syrupy nose, served too cold. Some toffee with drying finish. Not a big fan of this
