08 Feb 2011 (McGargle)
Very impressive ale house with friendly staff and customers. Not all beers noted.
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Motueka | 4.00 | | Light golden ale using Motueka hops. Satisfying almost light herbal flavours with good tropical fruits. Solid malts and dry finish. |
Acorn - Special Pale Ale | 5.70 | | Brewed with Bobek hops this was almost a light winter warmer. Plenty of malt body and warmth from the alcohol with a little hopping for interest. |
Timothy Taylor - Boltmaker (formerly Best Bitter) | 4.00 | Not Tried
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Decade | 4.10 | Not Tried
11 Dec 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Relative calm here away from the bustle of the city centre pubs.
Phoenix - Monkeytown Mild | 3.90 | | Top quality here for this black mild. Sweet with chocolate and liquorice flavours dominating and very little hop character. My score 17/20. |

18 Sep 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Fairly busy mid Saturday afternoon.
Elland - Elant | 4.10 | | Golden ale with a high level of phenolic bitterness unusual for an Elland beer and not to my taste. My score 11/20. |
23 May 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
WharfeBank - Black Tom | 4.40 | | Having had an undrinkable sample of this at Dewsbury Beer Fest, I was interested to see what this was like in a pub. I was not disappointed, an excellent black strong mild with a sweet caramelly flavour and a low hop rate. Fruity, slightly vineous finish. My score 16/20. |
17 Apr 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Fairly busy with a mix of lunchtime drinkers and diners.
Old Mill - Springs Eternal | 4.00 | | Well balanced pale bitter with a sweetish malty character just dominating. My score 15/20. |
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Pioneer | 4.00 | | Easy drinking pale bitter with fruity citrus hop taste and good malt balance. My score 15/20. |
