A quiet Monday evening vibe. I can name half the people here and recognise half of the rest, despite only being an occasional visitor myself. I should be on the Lemsip rather than the beer to be honest, given my current sniffles.

Evening until fairly late. Lively here tonight.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Kiwi3.80ExcellentA pale golden beer with an extreme hop flavour that is either loved or hated by those who try it.
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Hackney Red IPA6.10ExcellentFirst class Red IPA in perfect condition. The £3:20 price tag for such a good, strong beer made it very attractive.

Mid-evening visit. Quite busy in here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Jamaica Stout (was 5%)5.40ExceptionalIn the early days of the brewery, when I used to come here a lot, this was my favourite Brodie’s beer. Pleased to see it is being brewed again (now at 5.4%), and that it is still fabulous.
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Smoked Amber Beer5.30GoodAmber-coloured, strong and smoky, as you might expect.

Lunchtime and the pub is busy. A mix of people in to watch televised football and people lubricating themselves ahead of watching the real live football at Brisbane Road in the afternoon.

Evening visit until late, following a good restaurant meal. All the usual folk seem to be present, sitting in their usual seats.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Wobbly - Columbus & Summit4.50GoodAs its name suggests, this is a well-hopped beer. Slightly hazy, pale gold in colour. Bitter.

Afternoon and a refuge from the wet weather. Largest TV screen I have seen in a pub. All very friendly here.

Boxing day afternoon, and a good crowd watching football on television. The weather at wherever the match was being played looked appalling and those watching it in the pub with a pint and a plate of chips definitely had the best idea.

Afternoon. Pleasantly populated with drinkers. Rather more handpumps without pumpclips than on previous visits but unused ones had colourful bows tied to their finials.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - London Fields Pale Ale4.00ExcellentBeautifully clear and full flavoured. Could not fault condition but just a disappointment to me that a Pale Ale turns out to be just yet another citrus beer, a style for which great tiresomeness has set in
Brodie's (latterly contract brewed by Rhymney) - Bethnal Green Bitter4.00AcceptableA tad cloudy. OK.

The pub is found in Leyton, Greater London, E10 6AE.

Community local in the Bakers Arms area of Leyton, in High Road Leyton, with a large comfortable dark wooden interior. The pub was present here by 1855 and was acquired by Charrington’s Brewery from Truman’s in 1870 – in later years it passed to Ind Coope. It was rebuilt as we know it today in 1897, on a slightly smaller site than its predecessor. Used to be famous for a good selection of Brodie's beer which were brewed in the former stable block to the rear. Sold on and the brewery has been relocated outside London. Refurbished and reopened under new ownership in late-May 2018. Reported late 2022 no long selling real ale. 2023 reported back selling real ale.

We have visited this pub 54 times, seen 131 different beers and tried 82 of them.
