Afternoon before launch-off to the Lake District. Lively conversation at the bar about the sins of the likes of Meantime, Thwaites and Camden Town for selling out.

Evening until close. Very busy until the end. Got chatting to a fellow from Cornish Crown Brewery who had been to the Craft Beer Rising event in Brick Lane earlier.

Early evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Buxton - Axe Edge Double IPA6.80ExcellentThe alternative offered after the Mallinson rejection. This was a superb 4½* beer
Mallinsons - Spruce Goose6.30PoorSour, flat and so unappetising and the barman could see I was struggling with it. He had been using a sparkler but A.N. Other had removed it. He offered me an alternative which I avidly accepted. He fitted the sparkler back on the tap but will take more than that to bring this beer to life

The pub is found in Euston, Central London, NW1 2EF.

Sited in the neo classical lodges at the front of Euston mainline railway station and operated by Bloomsbury Leisure Group. The West Lodge opened initially then the East Lodge opened as a cider bar but was later converted to matching the West Lodge drinks offerings. In each lodge the bar is on the ground floor with more seating and the toilets upstairs via a narrow spiral staircase. In the West Lodge there are 8 cask beers on air pressure and 19 keg taps are fitted on the back wall plus there are fridges of bottled beers on either side of the bar. Owned by the same people as the Sheffield Tap on the station there. No food is prepared here but pizzas may be ordered at the bar and then they are shipped in by a supplier.

We have visited this pub 80 times, seen 299 different beers and tried 103 of them.
