Came for lunch with Jane and my parents. Good job we booked as it was heaving. I really like this pub. It's got a good garden, an pleasant interior and friendly staff. Oh, and it serves Goacher's too.
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Fresh with some coffee flavours and some sharp hops. |
Goacher's - Best Dark Ale (aka Original) | 4.10 | | Badged as "Best Dark". Fresh and clean with a toasted malt bite on the finish. |
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried

In a wet and windy January night Jane and I decided it would be good to see what the Rose & Crown has like since it changed hands in March 2006. We were warmly greeted by the lady behind the bar as we entered and the beer line-up looked the same as always. The pub interior hadn't changed much either. This is still a great pub.
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | As she poured it I could smell chocolate from 2 feet away. It tasted of creamy milk chocolate with a lovely subtle burnt malt bitterness on the finish. This was top class Goacher's Mild. I love this beer. |
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Cottage - Wessex Growler | 4.00 | Not Tried | Had a sip of Jane's. A dark amber best bitter that smelt and tasted of toffee-caramel. Really excellent. |

The pub has just changed hands this week so it was interesting to see what had changed. The beer range looked the same and so did the food.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | One of the best pint of Harvey's I've had. Lovely and fresh with a good hop to sweet malt ratio and that unmistakeable harveys yeast taste. Fantastic |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Vinegar with a hint of goacher's mild. I should have taken it back really but I didn't, I just left it. |
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA) | 4.10 | Not Tried
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried

Arrived about 9.45pm and it was quite busy for a pub in the middle of nowhere. Good friendly atmosphere and a loverly pub interior. This is a great pub for its beer range, setting and building
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Good deep bitterness with lots of burnt coffee but no rich chocolate which was a shame |

Evening session with my mum and dad (as I was taking him out for his birthday). Started off quite busy, thinned out a bit and then got busy again. Very friendly pub with a loverly atmosphere and a great interior.
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Exactly the right combination of milky smoothness and hops. I know many will disagree but they're wrong... this is the best beer in the world :) |
Cottage - Great Bear | 4.70 | | An amber golden coloured beer. A Rich syrupy apple and toffee flavour with a short lived hoppy finish. |

Walked pass the pub at 11.55 and it was nearly empty. Came back 10 minutes later and we were lucky to get a seat.
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | | Top of the barrel I would guess. Nice and hoppy with a definte chocolate after taste |
