Monday afternoon with good weather, this pub was quite busy but adequately staffed with no waiting at the bar. All eighteen hand pumps were in use with twelve different beers downstairs and six beers upstairs of which a few were also available on the ground floor. Two of the members of staff that I spoke to were ecstatic about the Banana Bread Beer from Charles Wells.

Long chat with Chris the boss. Organised a pre beer festival tasting session the day before the next festival in October for my camra bods. Pity inm in Tenerife Interested to hear that all available soon beers are that way coz the lines are being cleaned and they should all be on in one hour. Mmmm.

Banks's - Ringwood Fortyniner4.90GoodBarman asked me why I wanted the sparkler removed. Learn something new everyday.
Shepherd Neame - The Faversham Steam Brewery - Whitstable Bay Pale Ale3.90GoodBoss gave me a sample of the £3.90 key keg version which was nice. But not worth £3.90

Friday lunchtime - very busy and service slow (as seems to be the norm in 'spoons). No rush though and we sat outside in the sunshine on the sea-facing veranda with about 100 others. Very impressed with the refurbishment of this iconic seaside building. A lot of pumps turned round or "coming soon". Just noted the couple I had plus a couple of more unusual ales on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Sneck Lifter5.10GoodDark, dry and malty.
Grafton - Apricot Jungle4.80GoodReally liked this - full apricot flavour, but not In a way that spoiled the beer.

4 Guests on, 6 available soons and 9 Ruddles, Abbott and gloombar. When the guests go off they are not being replaced but the regulars are. 90 min wait for food. I had a pint but after I queued 20 mins for another one I was told I had to join a queue though I should have been next. Sophie the young barmaid told me to join behind 7 others. No thank you. Customer isnt always right in this place.

The pub is found in Ramsgate, Kent, CT11 8LS.

This building opened as a Wetherspoon's on Tuesday 29 August 2017 and is probably the largest Wetherspoon's in the country. It was designed as a dance hall by architect Stanley Davenport Adshead in 1903 and in later years operated as a casino. On two levels with a bar with 12 handpumps at ground level and another on the 1st floor balcony with 6 handpumps. Open-to-view kitchen on the ground floor. There is a ground floor rear patio and an upstairs outside covered decking area for fair weather drinking and sea and sand views. Re-opened Saturday 7th December 2024 after a 3 week closure refurbishment.

We have visited this pub 212 times, seen 183 different beers and tried 152 of them.
