Visits Details
16 May 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Good to see some old faces back haunting here again. Jez covering Colin the Guv.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Common Conspiracy | 4.80 | | Great hop hit and moreish. An attack of bitterness on the senses |
Crouch Vale - Sienna | 4.30 | | Mid brown but little to excite |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40 | Not Tried
27 Mar 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. New dimmer ambience with only a few ceiling spotlights glowing. Remiss of me not to have visited for several months during which, unfortunately, the Guv Colin had a nasty bout of pneumonia but now back kicking fit.
Bespoke - Saved by the Bell | 3.80 | | Just the hoppiness I wanted |
Goddards - Fuggle (or Fuggle Dee-Dum) | 4.80
XT Brewing - No. 3 Indian Pale | 4.20 | Not Tried
31 Jan 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening until close. Wet and windy outside but a nice busy warm environment inside
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Oatmeal Stout | 4.60
Wantsum - 1381 | 3.80 | | |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30 | Not Tried
22 Jan 2014 (ChrisE)
A good crowd in tonight. The landlord had taken a day off so the pub was in the hands of his regular barman.
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid | 3.70
Medieval - Priest's Hole | 5.20 | Not Tried
17 Dec 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening towards close.
Wantsum - Figgy Pudding | 4.50 | | 2nd was excellent - amazing with real ale how it can vary sometimes from pint to pint. Just feel however that the name Figgy Pudding tempts with ideas of spices and fruits but is actually a bitter. Pop in some cloves or something Mr Wantsum. |
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale | 3.40
Wantsum - Figgy Pudding | 4.50 | | 1st one |
Mad Cat - Thanksgiving Winter Warmer | 5.50 | Not Tried | Ran out as I ordered and a glass of sludge was displayed (but not, of course, offered) to prove it |
05 Dec 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Quiet towards end of the session.
Goacher's - Fine Light Ale | 3.70
Westerham - Audit Ale | 6.20 | | Acknowledged as having had problems clearing. Good full body |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried
08 Nov 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. A few different faces in and some regulars missing.
Wantsum - Golgotha | 5.50 | | An oatmeal stout |
XT Brewing - No. 8 Dark Roast | 4.50
XT Brewing - No. 4 Mellow Amber | 3.80 | | Not very inspiring |
27 Sep 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Holiday mood as Guvs going away for a week.
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Early Bird Pale | 3.60 | | A green hop ale |
Hopdaemon - Green Daemon | 5.00 | | Not well conditioned but I don't think the pub's fault. Much loss of flavour in recent Green Daemons |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried
13 Sep 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening on a wet drizzly old night.
Whitstable - Kentish Reserve | 5.00
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Rye Pale Ale | 4.00
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Knight's Ale | 4.60 | | Apparently recipe changed to produce darker beer with different hops. Certainly a distinctly hoppy oiliness on the lips |
07 Aug 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Usual culprits in residence.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 3 | 5.00
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30
Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 4.70
