Possibly my favourite pub in the world. Very unpretentious, with a good mix of regulars and 'beer tourists'. Top notch selection of beers, just brilliant really.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - McConnel's | 5.00 | | Rich stout with a nice hint of vanilla. Really good. |
Saltaire - Raspberry Blonde | 4.00 | | Nice enough, kind of like a blonde beer with a bit of raspberry cordial dropped in. |
12 Sep 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Salamander - Mt Sinai | 4.20 | | Hint of aromatic hop in this, could be Sorachi. My score 14/20. |
17 Jul 2009 (Ian)
After having one too many golden ales at the Harlequin a few of us came here on the way to The Wellington. Corner pub with central bar. Lovely feel to it. Wood, clocks and beer memorabilia. Oh and the best "back dimples" I've ever seen. Here with Mes, Simon and Jacob. One of the pubs I''d definitely come back to.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Craven Silk | 4.00 | | On a week where I drank as much Thornbridge Hall beer as I could, this was another delight. Better than when I had it in Huddersfield. Really pure elderflower that was sharp and aggressive, but still so drinkable. |
Marble - Stouter Stout | 4.70 | | Solid stout from one of the UK's best breweries. |
Spire - Guards Heavy | 3.70 | | Clear chestnut, lasting cream head. Some roast. OK bitter. |
17 Jul 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Craven Silk | 4.00 | | Pale beer with elderflower. Flowery, citrus hop taste and a dryish finish. My score 15/20. |
Fulstow (Fugelestou Ales) - Black Rose | 3.80 | | Dark bitter with a slightly unbalanced bitter taste bordering on phenolic. My score 13/20. |
