Acorn - Gorlovka6.00ExceptionalWhat a massive beer. Intense bitter sweet choco malts. Possibly my beer of the night.

Good busy atmostphere here. Lucky to get a table out the back for 10 of us! Again Sheffield hasnt let me down. Amazing selection!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Raven6.60ExceptionalThe was fabulous. Just what I needed to take me to the next level on our pub crawl! A good rounded Black IPA? Isnt that an error... Black and Pale in one name?!! Similar hoppiness to their ever famous Jaipur with a nice burnt after taste. Mmmmmm. Thin white head, perfect.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Acorn - 2 Monkeys4.00ExcellentExcellent hop character, good maltiness and a full bodied taste. My score 16/20.
Pictish - Warrior4.00GoodVery pale, fairly sweet with notes of butterscotch/caramel, not flavours I normally associate with this brewery. My score 15/20.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Bradfield - Down by the Riverside4.10GoodGolden ale with a good balance of hop and malt. My score 15/20.

National Pub of the Year and I can see why. Great atmosphere as soon as you walk in, well organised behind the bar, good range of beers, chatty locals and just generally a very relaxed and nice place to sit and have a beer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Pictish - Ginger Ale3.90ExcellentReally works well, very well integrated. Great ginger, bitter, but still clearly a beer. Perfect really. Lovely and drinkable
Acorn - Barnsley Bitter3.80ExcellentBurnt toast flavour. Does everthing I want a bitter to do. Excellent session bitter.
Acorn - Aurora IPA5.00GoodGold, thin off white head. Bit sweaty. But farily reassonble nettle hop, leafy, green and pretty good.

Mallinsons - A Swift One3.80AcceptableRather dry pale bitter with a peach hop character. My score 14/20.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Mallinsons - The Heat Is On3.70ExcellentRefreshing pale summer type beer with big citrus hop taste. My score 16/20.
Wylam - Dognobbler3.90GoodPale bitter with good malt and hop balance. My score 15/20.
Dow Bridge - Legion (previously 3.9%)4.10GoodWell balanced golden coloured bitter. My score 15/20.
Alehouse - Winter Stout4.40GoodCaramel and toffee malt flavours but rather thin and not really a stout, lacking the deep roast bitter malt flavours one would expect. My score 15/20

Came here for a swifty after hitting the Fat Cat. Another fantastic pub. Really busy, we grabbed a seat out back and had some beer and Henderson's crisps. How very Yorkshire.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Sheffield - Sheffield Porter4.40GoodSmooth easy drinking beer. Plenty of caramel and coffee with a bit of roasted malt. Good porter, maybe could have done with being a little bit stronger flavoured.
25 Oct 2008 (Blair)
It took just over a minute to walk here from The Fat Cat, so we had quite a thirst on once we arrived. This is another fantastic pub, similar in vibe and clientele to The Fat Cat just with different beers. Had a pub cat and a pub dog who were both very friendly.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Acorn - Gorlovka6.00ExcellentBlack, viscous imperial stout. Very strong flavours of roasted malt and chocolate. A little smoky as well. Great stuff.
Oakham - Attila7.50ExcellentBig, fruity ale that really doesn't taste as strong as it is. Quite sweet with a toffee apple flavour going on. Good beer, but it hit me big time.
