Cronx - Kotchin | 3.90 | | Sweet and malty pale bitter, perhaps just a little too sweet for a bitter. Fruity hop in the finish. My score 15/20. |
20 Nov 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy on a Tuesday evening.
Mighty Oak - Boomslanger | 4.10 | | Dark red bitter with good bitterness from pacific type hops giving fruity and citrus hoppiness. My score 16/20. |
20 Nov 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Several familiar faces in here and I stood at the bar chatting with Martin the Mildman, who was kind enough to give me some pub tips for my forthcoming visit to Derby.
London Fields - Amarillo IPA | 6.00 | | One of London Fields’ elusive, single-varietal hop beers – here on keg dispense. Pale and strong with a very good grapefruity, peachy, fruity hop taste. |
Mighty Oak - Boomslanger | 4.10 | | Ruby-coloured, fruity malt tastes, some good hops and a bitter finish. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried

31 Oct 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Quite busy well into a Wednesday evening.
Windsor & Eton - Canberra | 4.00 | | Red in colour, not too sure what this beer is trying to be, it has sweet maltiness, some hoppiness and a strange fruity flavour. Quite pleasant all the same. My score 15/20. |
16 Oct 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy on a Tuesday evening.
Kent - Gold Fountain | 4.40 | | A special brew left over from the previous weekend's beer festival, this was a well balanced hoppy golden ale with a hopy fruity finish. My score 16/20. |
Cronx - Fallout Hazelnut | 4.60 | | A very sweet dark brown beer with virtually no bitterness or hoppiness. Even milder than a mild. My score 15/20. |
12 Oct 2012 (Stephen Harris)
I meet up with a good sized-group of CAMRA members here – but we’ve messed up, having come a day early for the pub’s beer festival. Never mind, the place is packed, there is a good atmosphere, and the beer is flowing.
Oakham - Green Devil IPA | 6.00 | | Outstanding, strong IPA. |
Fyne - Sanda Blonde | 5.50 | | Pale and intensely hoppy. |
Mad Squirrel (formerly Red Squirrel) - Legally Blonde | 4.00 | | Rather middle-of-the road, hoppy and buttery pint. |
Hanlons (formerly O'Hanlon's) - Stormstay | 5.00 | Not Tried
Vale - Black Swan Mild | 3.90 | Not Tried
RedWillow - Feckless | 4.10 | Not Tried
Cronx - Standard | 3.80 | Not Tried
04 Oct 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Very busy with a visit from the Thursday evening mild drinkers along with the usual evening crowds.
Mighty Oak - Oscar Wilde Mild | 3.70 | | This sample lacking the usual sweetness and berry fruitiness of some samples to give a fairly dry and chocolatey mild. My score 15/20. |
Kent - Session Pale | 3.70 | | A fruity pale bitter with the flavour of New Zealand hops. Good fuity hop finish. My score 15/20. |
Hobsons - Mild | 3.20 | | Dry, nutty and malty red coloured mild with a dry, toasty finish. My score 14/20. |
