Sadly the Windswept APA had been replaced by Ginger Jock. Adjourned elsewhere. (Also on Skye Otter)

No real ale since the refirbishment and no idea when it might be available. Not good for a GBG regular and current POTY.

Cheap beer offer in advance of cellar refurbishment was such a success that only Moorings Ale was available. Didn't bother.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Inveralmond - Moorings Ale4.20Not TriedTelling that this was the only one left - a worthy but essentially dull brown bitter.
21 Mar 2013 (McGargle)
Busy with mostly regulars.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Deeside - Brude3.50AcceptableP{erfectly drinkable but sweeter and far less hoppy than it was. Cloying finish.

Busy - mostly regulars.
BeerABVScoreNotes
West Beach - Blonde4.00GoodServed in perfect condition this competently brewed, pleasant but essentially nondescript golden ale positively shone in the glass. A firm base to work from and an encouraging start for this new Scottish micro.

Pub othe Year. Well deserved but it would be creat to see some competition in Aberdeen. Aside from The Grill there isn't any at the moment.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Swannay (formerly Highland) - The Duke IPA5.20GoodMuch better than the last example. Plenty of fruity hops on a solid malt base.
Isle of Skye - Cuillin Beast7.00PoorSweet 'n' strong. Beer for Buckfast drinkers.

Filling up nicely for Valentine's Night.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Wee Stoater4.30GoodAfter another couple of days on the stillage the grains and bitterness showed through. It clearly was a stout but one was quite enough - Wee Bloater.
Arran (formerly Isle of Arran) - Dug IPA5.50PoorThis is how the brewery describe it: 'An American style IPA with attitude, with great aroma and is dry hopped for extra flavour.' To me this is another bandwagon beer. Looks good, some alcohol, some sweetness. Malt and hops?? Gone walkabout. No hint of US IPA style.
12 Feb 2013 (McGargle)
Quiet early evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Wee Stoater4.30GoodAs a strong mild this worked well. Deep ruby with lasting tan head. Limited hopping but plenty of dark fruit. Good body and some sweetness on the finish. Then I discovered it was an oatmeal stout!!

The pub is found in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, AB11 5AA.

Rock and metal music bar on Trinity Quay, with friendly staff and customers. Unstinting commitment to real ale - usually five from mostly Scottish micros (often BrewDog) on. Lined glasses used. Excellent selection of keg beers on font and plenty of interesting bottles - think Rodenbach, Cantillon and the like. Real Cider too. One of the best bars in Scotland and probably Britain, The Moorings Bar is an Aberdeen 'must visit'. Renamed in 2015. In March 2020 decided to closed for the duration of the Coronavirus alerts.

We have visited this pub 141 times, seen 157 different beers and tried 91 of them.
