Beer by numbers. Little to commend: thin, lacking mouthfeel, nothing from either malt or hops. Beer by numbers and the number is 2(*).

Same cask as last week??

Quiet on this cold, wintry night. Similar beer choice to last week.

Yet another golden ale. This one was slightly sweet and honeyed.

A 'craft' lager which as usual would benefit from chilling. Good solid body with clear hints of honey. Would like to try this on keg where the carbonation could control the sweetness.

Seemed sweeter than usual and none the better for it. Was this from the new brewery at Ellon?

Brewed by a different brewer at a new location and it showed. Toffee aromas and toffee in the mouth with hints of phenols on the finish. Yugh! Where were the hops?

The hand pumps need to be pulled so many times to get a pint that there's a danger that the hops get ripped out of the beer. I fear that's what happened tonight.

I did want to like it but......sadly misjudged. Overarching sweetness and toffee flavour. Where were the hops?
The pub is found in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, AB11 5AA.
Rock and metal music bar on Trinity Quay, with friendly staff and customers. Unstinting commitment to real ale - usually five from mostly Scottish micros (often BrewDog) on. Lined glasses used. Excellent selection of keg beers on font and plenty of interesting bottles - think Rodenbach, Cantillon and the like. Real Cider too. One of the best bars in Scotland and probably Britain, The Moorings Bar is an Aberdeen 'must visit'. Renamed in 2015.
In March 2020 decided to closed for the duration of the Coronavirus alerts.
We have visited this pub 141 times, seen 157 different beers and tried 91 of them.
