Late evening and fairly quiet. I enjoyed the beer so much that I was tempted to have another one before closing time, but I decided to catch a train home instead. The beer was cheaper than I expected, and I was given a loyalty card which gives the tenth pint free of charge.

I’ve popped in here a couple of times to use their lovely and convenient toilets, but this is the first time I have had the time to have more than a very quick half in here. It was very busy at 6:30pm and very expensive – but it is an impressive pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - Bengal Lancer5.00GoodFuller’s biscuit malt taste to the fore, with little of the excellent hop character I had noted before in this beer.
Island Brewery - Wight Gold4.00AcceptableGolden. Managed to be both in sparkling condition but weighed down by a buttery flavour.

Final port of call before catching a train home from St Pancras. Fairly busy but plenty of room to sit down, we found a quiet area away from the televison screens and enjoyed a pint.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - Wild River4.50ExcellentThis has been described as a Marmite Beer, you either love it or hate it, personally I really like it.

What a load of over engineered, over retro-ed kitsch. With a bulk standard Fuller's (local brewery so minimal delivery costs) seasonal at £4.00 pp one needs to significantly manipulate LIBOR to come here often. 2145 hours visit.

Lunch time visit. Part of the lower floor of this pub is the office I worked in in the 1980s. A strange sensation to be sitting drinking where one's desk was. Very expensive.

Friday evening and very busy. I attended a friend's leaving do, before he departs to Jakarta on a new job venture.

Joseph Holt (see also Holt's) - IPA3.80ExcellentI never thought that I would end up paying £4.05 for a pint of Holt's but I did, and I had to ask for a considerable top up. An excellent well kept pint though.

Thursday lunchtime and business was good. The place still had a very new feel about it, I got the impression that they had a very busy first week as some of the beers were starting to run out.
