Visits Details

21 Oct 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit until close. Two 6%+ers chased each other side by side.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marble - Earl Grey IPA6.80ExcellentA very subtle flavouring in an ale with excellent condition and appearance
Brass Castle - Zest for Life6.50AcceptablePoured totally flat and resembling engine oil. Multiple decanting between two glasses brought a head and some life to make it more appetising
Signature Brew - Roadie - All-Night IPA4.30Not Tried
Bristol Beer Factory - Fortitude4.00Not Tried
Northern Monk - A Little Faith4.00Not Tried
Wiper and True - Shipping Forecast3.80Not Tried
14 Oct 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit until close. A well known Scoopgener was holding court.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marble - Ginger4.60ExcellentOne was enough
Moor - Old Freddy Walker7.30AcceptableAll the taste was there but not any condition, head or lacing so making for a lack of mouthfeel. Poured and stayed totally flat in the glass
Kernel (The Kernel) - Table Beer3.10Not Tried
Signature Brew - Roadie - All-Night IPA4.30Not Tried
Moor - Illumination4.30Not Tried
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Tiramisu Lucaria4.50Not Tried

30 Sep 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening until close. Good crowd in and still spending.
BeerABVScoreNotes
DEYA - I'm a Rolling Stone4.60ExcellentA first rate hoppy brown ale. Very enjoyable
Torrside - Stuff & Nonsense6.80GoodA well balanced 6.8%er. Very innocent, belying its strength. Unfined but not evidently hazy fortunately
Siren Craft - Broken Dream Breakfast Stout6.50AcceptableAlas poured totally flat like engine oil with not an iota of head. Multiple decantings between two glasses brought minimal life and a short lived head. No off flavours
Track - Sonoma3.80Not Tried
Gun - Project Babylon Pale Ale4.60Not Tried
Siren Craft - Memento3.80Not Tried
16 Sep 2023 (Philip Pirrip)

BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Lucaria6.00ExcellentSmooth and Ice Cream Porter is what is delivered
Northern Monk - Oat Pale Amarillo Citra El Dorado4.80GoodPoured as a glass of murk. Fortunately no citrus of note. I have to wonder if these concoctions are beer

BeerABVScoreNotes
RedWillow - Faithless 173 Dry Hopped Porter4.50GoodA powerful flavour hit
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Artesian (collaboration with Timothy Taylor's)4.20GoodAdvertised as Elderflower & Gooseberry Pale Ale. Lovely tang but rather thin gruel
Signature Brew - Roadie - All-Night IPA4.30Not Tried

Brew York - Maris the Otter3.90Not Tried
Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - Miles Away5.00Not Tried
02 Sep 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit until close. Saw a well oiled former work colleague who had been asking after my health.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Kashpur (collaboration with Salopian)5.70ExcellentA full bodied flavour hit. Did not detect any Jaipur about it despite the name
Northern Monk - Don't mess with Yorkshire Rhubarb & Custard Pale Ale4.50AcceptableA gross failure. No head, lacing and a real chore to finish. I got the flavouring but seemed the pale ale base was a brewery muck up. Not a pleasant pint
Gun - Chummy Bluster4.40Not Tried
Siren Craft - Lumina4.20Not TriedRan out
Marble - Theia4.80Not Tried

19 Aug 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until close. Always a very beery place to visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
RedWillow - Faithless 171 Smoked Best Bitter4.10ExcellentUnusual flavouring but condition superb
New Bristol - Cinder Toffee Stout4.00AcceptableAll the flavour expected but not an ounce of condition. Even multiple decanting between two glasses hardly produced any sustainable head or life
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur5.90Not Tried
Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%)3.40Not Tried
Bristol Beer Factory - Notorious3.80Not Tried
Brew York - It's this way Tony5.20Not TriedTaster was of unadulterated lemon juice
12 Aug 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until close. Bit of confusion over when last orders could be placed but resolved. One of the best cask ale ranges I have seen for a long time in one venue.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - DDH Jaipur5.90ExcellentThe DDH made this quite different to bulk standard Jaipur. For once I forgave the haze!
Marlix - Where's The Bloody Vindaloo Hippie?6.00GoodNightcap with chilli infusion. A novelty but a half was enough. Lacked enough condition
Kernel (The Kernel) - Pale Ale (with oats) Chinook4.50AcceptableLots of floral nose but poured absolutely flat with no head, lacing and condition
Salopian - Darwin's Origin4.30Not Tried
Big Smoke - Solaris Session Pale3.80Not Tried

Late evening visit until close (or what I assume is close!).
BeerABVScoreNotes
Neon Raptor - Radar Detector3.80ExcellentA very bitter APA
Vocation - Tonka Frappe5.00GoodSome sort of collaboration brew. Rather heavy and flat in glass. More condition needed to really enjoy
