Crouch Vale - Hurricane4.20AcceptableBitter and hoppy with a dry, bitter finish and little malt balance. My score 14/20.
Vale - Shire Ale4.40AcceptableRed in colour with bitterness mainly derived from malts, either crystal or amber. Some hoppiness but not dominant. My score 14/20.

I liked this pub and we came here for some lunch and my friend liked it too. Good atmosphere as a cellar bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Titanic - Iceberg4.10GoodOne of those beers that I like with no really good reason apart from the the very good hop.
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70GoodSo understated you could miss how good this session bitter is. But it does everything right.

I think this is a great place under the old Hop Exchange. Curved ceilings make you feel like being in a cellar and it has been done out very well.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Titanic - Iceberg4.10ExcellentA lot hoppier and smoother than previous years I thought. Bit yeasty on aroma, but you can't fault the flavour in the mouth, the swallow or the hoppy finish

BeerABVScoreNotes

BeerABVScoreNotes
Epicurus Craft Beer (formerly Hornbeam) - High Summer Pale Ale4.50AcceptableRather disappointing with a hint of diacetyl in the taste. Could have been much better. My score 14/20.
23 Jun 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Full of rugby fans earlier in the evening watching on the many screens here, it had emptied out by 9pm when I visited.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Spectrum - Light Fantastic3.70ExcellentSuperb cereal aroma and excellent grainy, barley malt taste tempered by a little hoppiness. My score 16/20.
Hidden - Ace4.20AcceptableRather sticky cloying sweet malt taste with little hop presence. Some bitterness in the finish. My score 14/20.
