Fairly quiet for the lunchtime visit with my wife and friend. Good meal. The garden area was undergoing some groundwork to provide children's area and more outdoor facilities following the removal of their pond and so was temporarily unavailable to the public.

Having been to nearby Hamstreet for a classic bike jumble, I suggested to my "chauffeur" that we visit this place. Having read about this pub on other scribes postings, it seemed a good idea with the beer festival on. Only snag, I didn't have the address! Knew it was Willsborough, but somehow, we went past the hospital and onto the Batchelors factory, where we pulled in to ask the two on-duty traffic cops, on speed-camra duties, for help? Having radioed there people, we were re-directed back where we came and still got lost (turned left at the Esso garage instead of right!). Eventually we found it and, because of a lack of parking, we parked up off the main road where we started from near the hospital! That close but that far? We both thought this was a cracking old pub, nice interior, albeit, well re-modelled. The huge pub back garden (biggest in Ashford according to the sign) was where the bar and stillaged ales were found, plus a barbecue and live music. Quite busy at 4pm but glad we found it. You'd never know there was a pub here without the pub sign on the residential road?

The pub is found in Willesborough, Kent, TN24 0NY.

Formerly The Rose, situated in Willesborough in Silver Hill Road, on the way to William Harvey Hospital, this is a lovely pub on the inside. Lots of original wooden beams, uneven floors and open fireplace. Large, pretty garden too. Food is American and there are 3 handpumps on the bar. Seriously damaged by fire on Sunday 27th November 2016 and reopened mid March 2018.

We have visited this pub 107 times, seen 105 different beers and tried 58 of them.
