BeerABVScoreNotes
Torrside - Franconia5.20GoodMight well be the first time I have had a cask Rauchbier. Excellent aftertaste too
Wild Card - Pale Ale4.30Not Tried
25 Sep 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until close. Also tried a keg Pomona Island's Vampires in Havana strawberry and lime gose at £6.60 pp, still honestly too sour for me to really enjoy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Iron Pier - Old Ale4.30AcceptableNearly a pint pulled off to clear line first, still a tad too tepid
Mallinsons - Screaming Goats4.30Not Tried
22 Sep 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Mallinsons - Screaming Goats4.30GoodGood but the staff had nearly poured off three quarters of a pint to the sink before pulling this pint, which is most laudable
Kent - Black Gold4.00Not Tried
18 Sep 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit with later opening as business was brisk.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kent - Black Gold4.00AcceptableDespite half a pint pulled off and disposed of by bar staff this did not seem very fresh
11 Sep 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Last knockings visit until close. Good chat with the Guv about the types of keg and membrane kegs he deals with and how empty ones disposed of.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wild Card - Best4.20Good2nd drink cooler and fresher and much more palatable
Wild Card - Best4.20Acceptable1st pint a tad tepid
08 Sep 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wild Card - Best4.20GoodJust what I wanted - a mid-brown bitter, this one with slight sweetish aftertaste
Black Iris - Endless Summer4.50Not Tried
01 Sep 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cloudwater - Happy Easy Pale (was 3.5%)3.40GoodVenue called it a table beer. Certainly lacked any body or depth. Probably good condition but all it had was a milky scrumpy murk look. Would def not want a second as bit of a nothing
29 Aug 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit on a special Monday opening for bank holiday. Soon speaking to loads of people!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Three Blind Mice - Old Brown Mouse4.20ExcellentExcellent dark brown best bitter
Pomona Island - Chubby Rain4.20ExcellentAs murky as scrumpy cider mixed with milk but for once I enjoyed same as it did not have those awful citrus overtones. Well balanced
25 Aug 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit on a bus change. I know there is unfinished work here but please please do add some soft furnishings and sound baffling on the ceiling. First time I have sat across a table to someone here and we could hardly hear ourselves with the echoing sounds unless we shouted.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Abbeydale - Deception4.10AcceptableBetter if had been a tad cooler
Burnt Mill - Other Worlds4.40Not TriedClip called it a Japanese Bitter, ah so
19 Aug 2022 (Philip Pirrip)

The pub is found in Blackheath, Greater London, SE3 7AA.

A pub and small brewery venture in the Royal Standard area of Blackheath in Vanbrugh Park. It is a conversion of the previous imposing Barclays Bank building. It is the brainchild of the Common Rioters Brewery. Soft openings on 8th and 9th July 2022 to test systems and logistics then open from 13th July 2022. 20 wall keg taps on white tiled bar back wall and 2 handpumps on the basic wooden bar counter. The brewery is visible from inside the bar room at the far right hand end but at autumn 2024 is still not operative. Seating is at low tables and chairs. Emphasis is clearly on keg sales at the usual higher prices for them. Card payment only, cash not accepted. Initially open Wednesday to Sunday only, now Tuesday too.

We have visited this pub 91 times, seen 107 different beers and tried 77 of them.
