Visits Details

21 Jul 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit. All tables taken. So far here only once have I not had to ask for a top up.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Torrside - Yellow Peak4.20AcceptableNeeded to be slightly cooler, lost most condition almost immediately in the glass
17 Jul 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Had to blag an after closing time pint having been told emphatically the previous week it would close at 10 it had closed at 9. The sooner properly advertised hours are displayed the better.
BeerABVScoreNotes
North Riding Brewery - Oat Pale (collaboration with Mill Hill)4.00ExcellentThoroughly enjoyable on a balmy night
15 Jul 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until close. Sat and contemplated this new venue and realised that, as so often happens, no consideration has been given to soft furnishings and sound baffling to soften the noise. Needs some retrofitting in what is otherwise a large box of hard surfaces.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Abbeydale - Moonshine4.30GoodSlight haze
Burning Sky - Day by Day (collaboration with Elusive)5.40GoodVery full bodied
14 Jul 2022 (Philip Pirrip)

BeerABVScoreNotes
Burning Sky - Day by Day (collaboration with Elusive)5.40GoodRather cloying ESB but good temperature and condition
Abbeydale - Moonshine4.30Not Tried
09 Jul 2022 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit as found it open by chance as passing by to shop. Obvious work in progress on its second day of soft opening but thriving with lone drinkers and families nevertheless all trying it out. I was disappointed to find no cask ales on the handpumps yet but felt obliged, as you do, to try a beer. Had a Pressure Drop 6.5% keg job but without pre-warning served as a murk and misread the pricing tile so paid £7.50 a pint not the expected £5. I shall await the arrival of cask and hopefully its more reasonable prices before my next visit. Usual problem of keg beer being served chilled and gassy so belching to the bus stop upon departure.

The pub is found in Blackheath, Greater London, SE3 7AA.

A pub and small brewery venture in the Royal Standard area of Blackheath in Vanbrugh Park. It is a conversion of the previous imposing Barclays Bank building. It is the brainchild of the Common Rioters Brewery. Soft openings on 8th and 9th July 2022 to test systems and logistics then open from 13th July 2022. 20 wall keg taps on white tiled bar back wall and 2 handpumps on the basic wooden bar counter. The brewery is visible from inside the bar room at the far right hand end but at autumn 2024 is still not operative. Seating is at low tables and chairs. Emphasis is clearly on keg sales at the usual higher prices for them. Card payment only, cash not accepted. Initially open Wednesday to Sunday only, now Tuesday too.

We have visited this pub 96 times, seen 121 different beers and tried 84 of them.
