The first sunny day for ages and most of the pub car parks on the A25 were heaving. Luckily plenty of room in the Compasses car park and in the bar. It was fairly busy with normal (not Sunday trippers) people. Food was available, varied and well priced.

Stunning day, first visit. About 30 degrees outside. Sat out in the garden and ordered lunch. I had for about 9 quid the largest pie of my life!! And thats coming from me (for those who don't know me i've got a large appetite!) Came on its own plate and then also a plate of chips arrived and a generous portion of fresh veg. My partner had a mixed cheese ploughmans for about 7 quid... again massive! The garden was busy and the kids were playing in the stream with each other. This place just seemed so nice.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Surrey Hills - Shere Drop4.20ExcellentI thoroughly enjoyed this. It was on top form, server perfectly and at the right temperature. Given the heat it went down dead fast. Plenty of hops made this nice and bitter. Crystal clear. Tangy, and a perfect malt side to it. Very sessionable.
