BeerABVScoreNotes
Mallinsons - Crescent Pale Ale4.10AcceptableVery pale and hoppy but unfortunately this sample was served a little too warm. My score 14/20 "B" quality.
Summer Wine (SWB) - Strata4.50AcceptableRather hazy golden ale with a dry, bitter flavour. My score 14/20.
22 Jan 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Very busy with people in for the beer festival and also locals from the uni in for lunch. Bar staff coped admirably, even doing cellar runs in the midst of all this. Food was good quality and value too. The top pub of my visit to Greater Manchester.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Derventio - Janus4.30ExcellentPale ale. Very good mix of sweetish hop and biscuity malt with a good long malty finish. My score 16/20.
Newmans - Woolly Rhinoceros4.30GoodWell balanced traditional bitter, majoring on the malty side. My score 15/20.
Elland - Sister Seagull4.10GoodFruity and hoppy pale ale with lots of citrus hop taste and good malt balance. My score 15/20.
Hopstar - Brewhouse Falling Leaves4.00AcceptableTraditional bitter, quite dry and bitter through to the finish. My score 14/20.

Increasingly busy with mainly students after 4pm on a Weds evening. Beer festival in progress.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Abbeydale - Beer Works Dr Morton's Mental Polish4.20GoodPale gold with good fruity citrus hop taste and some malt balance. My score 15/20.
Mallinsons - Pacific Gem (Now That's What I Call Hops #7)3.80AcceptableHaving now had two single hop beers with this hop, I can now say it's not one of my favourites, quite dry and bitter with little in the way of fruit or citrus flavours. My score 14/20.
Shaw's - Cascade4.50AcceptableVery pale with characteristic dry citrus hop taste but little malt balance. Very dry, hoppy finish. My score 14/20.

26 Sep 2009 (Martin the Mildman)
Fairly quiet on a Saturday lunchtime.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Epicurus Craft Beer (formerly Hornbeam) - Dark & Divine4.00ExcellentIt certainly was with a grainy malt character and fruity hoppiness. After the chilli mild it tasted mild. My score 16/20.
Brass Monkey - Tamarin Mild3.60GoodA light mild with a light hoppy taste with some biscuity malt. Similar in character to Robinsons Hatters. My score 15/20.
Bollington - Chilli Nights3.90AcceptableA perfectly good chocolatey dark mild ruined by the ridiculously over the top addition of chilli, rendering all other flavours virtually indistinguishable. My score 13/20 (mainly for the base beer).
