A throw-back pub. I sat in the public bar at the front, in the early evening. At times I was the only one there, at others there was a lively conversation around me amongst the regulars – depending upon the cycle of their tobacco addictions.

First port of call on our mini-crawl of Peterborough. We all loved this pub, a proper old school locals boozer that looks like it hasn't changed in 50 years. Very friendly and forgiving bunch in there, not only did I mispronounce a beer 'Red Bacon' but I then picked up someone elses pint and managed to spill a third of it. All this and they forgave me, we all seemed like old friends by the time we left.
