22:00 hours on a Saturday night and very civilised, a few of us had just left a Vaughan Williams concert at the Cathedral and were now enjoying the sounds of Brenda Lee and Bob Dylan.

Busy with locals, passing tourists, wedding parties, sport fans, a very mixed clientele.

Gidley's - Spinney4.10GoodDark ruby in colour, quite fruity with a little hop in the finish. Could almost be a mild. My score 15/20.

Situated opposite the Cathedral in Cathedral Close, this pub has a shop type frontage which reveals a light, airy but traditional interior. Good selection of beers, with a fair proportion from local breweries. This pub is currently closed owing to extensive fire damage in October 2016.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 3 different beers and tried them all.
