Well timed just after opening and not too busy, we found a vacant table in the back room (The Manchester United Room as per local footie folklore)..

Late Saturday morning and I was not expecting the pub to be open. I sat in the front bar and was joined by a Norwegian gentleman who had been researching the history of this pub and the nearby Grey Horse and Old Monkey.

Saturday morning, and our group were the only customers, we sat in the back bar and had a pint in comfort.

Only dropped in as it claimed to have the smallest bar in Europe. They're probably right it is tiny. Ended up wedged between a group of local guys and a group of scottish women arguing over a variety of topics, was great fun.

I am not a fan of Tetley's Bitter but I love this pub. I was able to get a seat in the front room and enjoy good chat with the other customers, and the now very rare table service.

Tiny pub in Portland Street, sandwiched between The Old Monkey and Grey Horse Inn, it is Grade II Listed, and on the CAMRA National Inventory. There is a small bar counter in the corridor with just 2 handpumps and serving the two small snug rooms. This pub regularly offers table service in the rooms. An outside wall plaque announces that this is a Tetley Heritage Inn.
