Visits Details

18 Sep 2010 (Alenomore)
An early start, up to Birmingham New St, walk across to Moor St, then onto Kidderminster. Opposite Kidderminster Stn is the Severn Valley Railway, an ex Great Western Railway line, now celebrating 40 years in preservation. I took a Steam train from here to reach Bridgnorth, the end of the line. The "rover" ticket cost £15.50, but the steam journey was a real treat! I finally arrived at 1115, spent a short time at the festival, which was very good, with far too many new ales to sample, then walked into the High Town area for a wander. Only skimmed the surface here in this historic town, so, will have to return again, as one half day is just not enough. Later on, the marquee got very busy, so didn't sample anymore, but the stations very own pub was visited too. A great day out.

This is a Camra Beer Festival, the 16th to be held at Bridgnorth Station on the Severn Valley Railway. A small marquee in the car park area with over 50 cask ales and a few ciders too. A great location, with Steam and Diesel trains running to and from Kidderminster.
