Tony and I sat outside in what turned out to be the smokers area. As a result we got engaged in lots of ramdom conversations as various smokers came out. My favorite was about how many chainsaws you owned. The winner had 9. The pub had 2 rustic rooms with the beer on gravity behind the bar. This was one of those rare old pubs that it's a pleasure to find.

We arrived on a Saturday lunchtime to find the place closed. The landlord informed us that he does not open until 6pm and has not opened at lunch times for three years, although the 2011 GBG still showed lunch time opening. Fortunately he agreed to open for thirty minutes as there were six of us outside.
